Three Jakarta Hotel Bars for Meeting Local Women

A haunt of the wealthier resident expats, visiting businessmen, middle class girls and girls who work in the oldest profession, the bars in the five-star hotels are buzzing and busy most weekends. These bars are not for the expat rockstars on a tight budget, as drinks prices and in some cases prices for the girls are much higher than elsewhere. However, they are the place to come if you want to meet some of the better looking or higher class girls or impress visitors from out of town.

There is a mix of office girls out for a good time, some married rich girls out for a bit of fun and ladies looking for payment for their services. The more aggressive the come-on the more likely she is of the latter variety. However, each to their own, this is Asia after all. But the reason I myself like these bars every now and then is that you can drop lucky and meet a girl who is independently wealthy and has her own driver, apartment etc and treats you as a sexual plaything – which after all is the ultimate aim for any self-respecting man. So happy hunting.

The Three Best Jakarta Hotel Bars for Meeting Local Women are…

TIGA PULUH in LE MERIDIEN

Although its hey-day was a few years ago Tiga Puluh (30 club) is still an enjoyable place

to have a few drinks and listen to the live band. It is set around two main rooms, with one room for lounging and chatting and the other for dancing, watching the band and checking out the talent. The girls tend to be dancing around the stage or hidden in the alcoves. It is a friendly atmosphere and the girls there tend to be regulars, but it doesn’t get busy until around midnight.

BATS in SHANGRI LA HOTEL

An institution in some circles, BATS attracts a lively crowd on a Friday or Saturday night, who come to listen to the live band and also hoping to get lucky. The crowd consists of a lot of expats who work in the oil and mining sectors and consequently have the cash to pay for what can be steep drinks prices ($10 for a vodka and tonic). It also attracts a large group of ladies who are attracted to this group like moths to a flame. Some of the better looking women in Jakarta can be found here, although many of them wil not come cheaply.

The set-up is that of a basement club, with bare brick walls being exposed and flashing neon. There is a large area with chairs and tables for dining and the rest is taken up by the bar, dance-floor and stage. There is a lively band who are popular with the girls and the atmosphere on a weekend can be pretty rocking. A good percentage of the women are not on the game so this is a good place to pick up the elusive rich girl or an office worker. Be warned though, that some of the girls here can be quite aggressive and also possessive, so be careful who you beckon over, because you may find it hard to get rid of them. Again, there is no point in coming here before 11 pm unless you are planning on eating, as the place will be dead before then.

CJ’s in THE MULIA

The chief rival to BATS at the weekend is CJ’s. This place is a bit bigger and darker and is the place to come if you like to dance or more importantly check out the girls as they dance. The band plays a lot of hip hop and latin songs which are popular with the crowd, which tends to be loud and lively. There are some very good looking girls in here, again a mixture of working and non working girls, and later quite a few of the girls from Blok M will make their way here if they have had no luck in the bars. Drinks are very expensive and so are the girls if that is what you are looking for. It is only worth visiting on a Friday or Saturday, no matter what the weekday promotions are and whatever you do, don’t arrive before 11.00 pm.

Prester has been living and working in Asia for the last six years and four of these have been spent sampling all the delights Jakarta and Indonesia has to offer.

I’d say it’s more a case of girls from CJs going to try their luck at Blok M later, rather than the other way round.
